Riverflow aspires to create wholeness in life for everyone who is part of and connected to the community. United by meaningful work, community members with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities form friendships, gain vocational skills, and pursue dignified, self-directed lives. Riverflow is grounded in social forms that allow people of different abilities, needs, nationalities, and worldviews to live together, support each other, and contribute to the community as a whole.
We need your help! Building an initiative like Riverflow takes courage, commitment, and community. All donations given in 2024 are memorialized as Founding Gifts - become a Founding Donor and part of our extended community. With our first home open, we are turning our fundraising efforts to infrastructure for programming and the site planning for four additional community homes. See how you can help!
If you are looking for a deep and meaningful experience living and learning with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a warm and supportive community located just outside of Burlington, Vermont, then Riverflow is the place for you. Help us get this amazing community launched by joining our first home as a volunteer.
Riverflow Community is an inclusive lifesharing model. We opened our first therapeutic home in October 2024 and are designing a community that will include 3-5 houses in the future. If you are curious about intentional community life for yourself or a family member, please explore our Admissions page.
It is with great enthusiasm that we introduce Riverflow's four founding Friends. Riverflow is a rich and joyful lifesharing community where people develop lifelong relationships with their peers, engage in meaningful work, and join in social and cultural activities within and beyond Riverflow. Riverflow provides stable and supported housing for adults with high support needs.
"Camphill communities defy categorization and description. Camphill is a home for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities; it is a radical experiment in shared living; it is a template for environmental sustainability; it is a historically-grounded and innovative project that in many ways turns the norms and the expectations of our society’s measures of ability, value and productivity on their head."
